Match Report - Channel League Seniors Gwent v Cornwall 15th September 2025
Blustery morning with winds over 25mph winds greeted both sides in Gwent's final SCL match at home against the SCL leaders Cornwall who had won 5 lost 1 previously.
The course remarkably open after the heavy rain over the weekend was fairly dry due the gusty winds , greens were soft but rolled great.
Gwent got off to a poor start 3 matches going to the 9th but only collected half a point
Cornwall 4.5 - Gwent 0.5 . Gwent would need 7.5 points for a win.
It could have been a long afternoon of heavy showers and a heavy defeat.
Two Llanwern members led the single matches out

Paul 1 down playing 16 won that hole match all square.
Playing difficult 17th . Cornwall player knock his 2nd to 20ft for birdie.
Paul pulled 2nd needed to get up and down over the green side bunker.
He did and still all square playing 18th .
Gareth lost his close match on 17th . Overall match was standing 7.5-6.5 to Gwent
Both players hit the green on 18 and both 2 putted for half point each giving Team Gwent an unbelievable comeback and Win. 8-7 .
